Meet the Pots

Some things just feel beautiful. You know when you pick them up, your hands know.

Each unique piece of pottery I make is thoughtfully designed to feel good– from the weight of the clay, to the proportions of the curves, to the thickness of the handle– each detail has been considered.

But, fear not! I make real dishes for real people. Although beautiful, they are not made to sit on a display shelf– my pottery is made for the rigors of daily life. Use it. Wash it. Love it. Repeat.

Hand Bowls: A Truly Original Design

In the summer of 2005, while eating lunch outside in the sunshine, I had a brainstorm. I was holding one of my pottery bowls in my left hand, fork in my right. The foot of the bowl pressed uncomfortably into my left hand, and I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a bowl that was actually shaped to your hand?”

Of course I got right to work in the studio. After a few years of refinements, I had perfected my own original, signature design. The Hand Bowl has a base which has been carved out for a comfortable fit if you are holding your dinner in your hands, yet still sits solidly on a table for times of greater civility.

Every hand is unique. Likewise, each bowl is carefully carved to fit a variety of unique hands. Find me at the Eugene Saturday Market to pick out your very own Hand Bowl.
